Disaster strikes deliveries!
Disaster!!!
You know how it is, snow falls, it melts, it freezes, more snow falls, the roads get icey and slippery. The traffic builds up, you get the odd idiot who decides that they are immune to the effects of the snow and drives like a bat out of hell. Well all of this and (touch wood) our delivery vans have survived …..so far….of any accidents bar a minor scrape.
BUT….what you don’t expect is for the delivery driver to fill up a DIESEL delivery van, that he has filled up the same van with fuel many times before, with PETROL!!!!!!!
Let me tell you, petrol in a common rail diesel engine is an instant recipe for disaster. New fuels pumps and more or less as engine rebuild. Its not covered by insurance either!!!
All the hard work at Christmas, more than wiped out by one stupid mistake. And, insult to injury is to have a delivery vehicle off the road during some of the worst weather we have seen, putting more pressure on our other delivery van.
All i can say is thank you to to Ian at Monkwearmouth Motor Company in Sunderland for sorting out the van in good time.
